How to delete your account in the app (immediate)
1. Open the Oppidu app. 2. Sign in, if you are not already. 3. Go to Profile. 4. Tap Delete account. 5. Read what will be deleted, then tap Continue. 6. Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete for ever.
Your account is deleted immediately — there is no queue and no waiting period. The app returns you to the signed-out screen. The one step that happens later is the removal of photo files, described under "Photos" below.
What is deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes, in a single operation:
Your account
- your account record — your email address, display name and password hash;
- your issue reports — including any description you wrote;
- diagnostic records and events linked to your account — including the approximate location attached to them (city, pincode, and coordinates rounded to about 1.1 km);
- your installation registrations — the record linking an app installation to your account;
- pending verification records for your email address.
Your community content
- your community posts, including their ratings, text, area, and for a ride the pickup and drop area names;
- your comments and replies;
- the comments and replies other users wrote on your posts, and the replies other users wrote to your comments;
- your likes;
- the reports you made, and the reports other users made about your posts and comments;
- the blocks you made, and blocks other users made of you;
- the records of your community photos, your daily photo-upload counters and any refused-photo fingerprints;
- once reviews of Instagram sellers are switched on, your hourly and daily Instagram lookup counts.
This cannot be undone. We cannot restore a deleted account.
Photos
Photo sharing is not switched on yet, so no community photo files are stored today. Once it is:
- when your account is deleted, your photos disappear from your posts at once, because the posts and photo records are deleted in the same operation as everything above;
- a temporary viewing link issued before the deletion stops working within 15 minutes;
- the photo files themselves are then removed from storage by a background clean-up process. We do not promise a time for that clean-up. Until it has run, the files remain in private storage that is not publicly readable, and they cannot be viewed through Oppidu.
What remains, and why
- Community activity records. When community content is created, edited, deleted, liked, reported, checked or moderated, and when someone blocks or unblocks another user, our server records the action: an event code, the time, the identifiers of the post, comment or photo concerned, what it was about (for example, which restaurant), the user ID of the account that acted and, for a block, the user ID of the blocked account. These records are not deleted when you delete your account, so your former user ID remains in them. They contain no email address, display name, post or comment text, or photos. There is currently no automatic expiry for them.
- Instagram account and post records. Once reviews of Instagram sellers are switched on, records of the Instagram accounts and posts that were looked up are kept as described in the Privacy Policy (§9). They are not linked to your account; your reviews of them are deleted with your other posts.
- Security counters. We keep rate-limiting counters for sign-in and sign-up that slow down password-guessing and automated sign-ups. They are stored under a one-way cryptographic hash of the email address or network address involved — not the address itself — and contain no reference to any account. Clearing them on request would let an attacker who had broken into an account erase the protection guarding it.
- Backups. Automated database backups are kept for 7 days. Database snapshots taken before major upgrades are kept until we delete them. Copies of your data in backups or snapshots taken before your deletion remain until those backups or snapshots are deleted.
- Analytics and crash data already sent to Google Firebase is not deleted by deleting your Oppidu account; it is kept according to Google's retention settings for those services.
- Unattributed diagnostics uploaded by older versions of the app carry no account link and cannot be associated with you.
What is not affected
Your logins for grocery, food and ride services are stored on your phone only — they were never sent to Oppidu. Deleting your Oppidu account does not sign you out of those services and does not delete anything they hold. To remove data held by a provider, contact that provider directly.
Uninstalling the Oppidu app removes the provider sessions stored on your device.
If you cannot access the app
Use this if you cannot sign in — for example you have lost the device or forgotten your password. Email cloudzigs51@gmail.com from the email address on the account, with the subject "Account deletion request".
We will verify that the request comes from the account holder and complete the deletion within 30 days of receiving it. This 30-day period applies only to manual requests; deletion performed in the app is immediate.
We may ask you to confirm details of the account before acting, so that nobody else can have your account deleted.
